Patra & Latkaan
Patra refers to a patterned design language commonly used in Indian textiles and architecture. It is made up of repeating motifs, often inspired by nature or geometry, arranged to create continuity across a surface. Traditionally, patra patterns were used to bring order and balance to a garment, allowing the design to flow naturally rather than draw attention to a single point.
Latkaan is a traditional tie detail used in Indian garments. It is attached to strings or closures and serves both a practical and decorative purpose. The added weight helps the garment sit correctly, while the movement of the ties adds softness as the wearer moves.
Both patra and latkaan reflect a functional approach to design, where pattern, structure, and detail are used to support how a garment is worn.
