Paisley & Embellishment
The Origin
Paisley is one of the world’s oldest textile motifs, originating in Persia and later refined through Indian design traditions. In India, it evolved beyond decoration, becoming a structural pattern used to guide proportion, rhythm, and flow across a garment.
Rather than sitting on the surface, paisley is traditionally integrated into the construction itself. This allows the design to move with the body, creating balance, fluidity, and a sense of ease when worn.
Indian embellishment follows the same principle. Embroidery and applied detailing are placed with intention during construction, not added after. The result is a garment that feels considered from every angle, where pattern supports form, and detail enhances movement.
This approach is why these pieces wear differently. They hold their shape, age beautifully, and remain relevant beyond seasons, not because they follow trends, but because they are built on proportion, craft, and longevity.
